Acceptance of These Terms

Individual and school registrations cannot proceed to payment until an authorised adult or school representative actively accepts the current registration conditions. Finalising a project submission also reconfirms the applicable submission, consent and publication conditions below. A parent/guardian, teacher or school coordinator acting for a student or team confirms that they are authorised and have obtained any required participant, parent/guardian and school permissions.

Who Can Participate

• RCC is open to eligible school students from Kindergarten to Year 12 in the published competition categories.
• Participants under 18 require the permissions applicable to their registration and submission.
• Each participant must comply with the entry limits and category requirements published for the competition year.
• School groups must be registered and managed by an authorised school staff member or coordinator.

Fees and Payment

• Individual entry: $30 AUD, subject to the published refund terms.
• School group entry: $20 per student, subject to the group refund and substitution terms.
• Current limitations for e-learning access, refunds and group member substitutions are set out in the Refund Policy.

Required Communications and Equipment Guidance

• The registered contact agrees to receive essential RCC operational emails about registration, learning access, submission requirements, deadlines, system changes, results and award arrangements. This is not consent to unrelated marketing.
• Registrants must review the current category and equipment guidance before payment and before preparing an entry.
• Robotics A and B require the Official AI Mission Robot Kit. Robotics C permits a school-approved platform. A robot kit is not included in the registration fee unless RCC expressly states otherwise for the applicable registration or package.

Required Submission Materials

• Junior Coding Path A: one Presentation Video only. Because ScratchJr keeps the project inside the app on the device, no SB3/code file or Project Note is required.
• Other Coding pathways: Presentation Video and SB3 code file.
• Robotics: one combined Presentation & Robot Operation Video and SB3 code file.
• Coding videos must not exceed five minutes. Robotics presentation and operation videos must not exceed six minutes.
• A short Project Note is optional for pathways other than Junior Coding. A written report is not required.
• School students may submit individually or in teams. School teams must contain 2–5 active students from the same school and submit one shared set of the materials required for their pathway.
• Robotics operation footage must show the required controls, including forward, backward and left/right movement or turning and the applicable servo operation. A competition field and complete mission run are not required for online qualification.
• All materials must be uploaded and finalised through the RCC Dashboard by the applicable deadline.

Academic and Competition Integrity

• Submitted work must be created by the entering student or team and must comply with the annual challenge rules.
• AI and other assistance tools may be used only to the extent allowed by the applicable category rules. Participants must be able to explain their design, code, testing and learning.
• RCC may request evidence, clarification or a live demonstration and may reject or disqualify an entry that is unsafe, misleading, ineligible, plagiarised or otherwise non-compliant.
• RCC judging and qualification decisions are subject to the published review or appeal process.

Results, Awards and Unlisted Presentation Videos

RCC may publish official participant, finalist and awardee lists, including individual and team results, on the RCC website. Eligible finalised presentation videos are uploaded to the official RCC YouTube channel as Unlisted. They are not normally displayed in YouTube search results or on the channel’s public video list.

Unlisted presentation videos are used only for RCC judging and competition administration; display with results or awards on the official RCC website; direct-link sharing with relevant teachers, students, parents/guardians and RCC personnel; and reference viewing within RCC eLearning by registered students. They are not licensed by this registration agreement for unrelated advertising, press, sponsor promotion or general social-media campaigns. Separate explicit permission is required for those uses.

An Unlisted setting limits discovery but is not access control: anyone who receives the link, or visits an RCC page where the video is embedded, may view and share it. Public or linked metadata is limited to the details reasonably needed for entry identification and recognition, such as submission number, approved participant/display name, category, year or grade, school, team name, project title and result or award. RCC does not intentionally publish direct contact details, dates of birth, parent/guardian details or other sensitive information with the video.

This use is a condition of finalising an entry. If an authorised person later requests removal, RCC will assess the request in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Removal may withdraw the entry or make it ineligible for continued judging, qualification, awards, results display or registered-student reference access.

Online Qualification and UNSW Final

The combined Robotics presentation and operation video is the online preliminary qualification entry for the in-person Robotics Finals at UNSW Sydney. Passing the online qualification may result in a Finalist Qualification Certificate and invitation to the UNSW event. Qualification does not guarantee an award, travel assistance or reimbursement. Entrants are responsible for confirming their ability to attend and for following the final-event rules.

Ownership and RCC Licence

Students retain ownership of their original project work. The participant and authorised submitter grant RCC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, convert, upload, display and communicate submitted materials only for RCC participation, safeguarding, qualification, judging, evaluation, results and awards, and registered-student educational reference, including the Unlisted YouTube uses described above. This registration licence does not cover unrelated advertising, press, sponsor promotion or general social-media campaigns; those require separate explicit permission. The licence does not transfer ownership to RCC.

Personal Information and Files

RCC handles registration and submission information as described in the Privacy Policy. Submission videos are temporarily stored in private R2 storage, uploaded to YouTube as Unlisted, and removed from R2 after the stated safety period when eligible. Code files are retained through judging and the appeal period. Authorised submitters must not include unnecessary personal, confidential, copyrighted or unsafe material.

RCC records the accepted policy version, registration, authorised contact, acceptance time, source page and security evidence needed to demonstrate registration consent. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the dedicated consent record; a one-way keyed hash is used instead.

Results, Certificates, Medals and Trophies

RCC may publish official individual and team finalist or awardee lists and eligible presentation videos on the RCC website for results and recognition, subject to the publication limits above. Physical awards are delivered to the registered school address by default. Individual delivery may be available by arrangement and may incur postage costs. Entrants are responsible for keeping delivery details accurate. RCC is not responsible for delays or loss outside its reasonable control.

Competition Changes and Availability

RCC may make reasonable changes to schedules, venues, categories, technical systems or procedures for safety, fairness, security, legal compliance or circumstances outside its control. RCC will communicate material changes where reasonably practicable.
