Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Robotics Coding Challenge. Designed to be a smooth experience for students, teachers, and parents.

Registration

General Registration

Who can participate?

Any student enrolled in an Australian school (Kindergarten to Year 12) can join. Check the current year’s official guide for specific age brackets and pathways.

Can I register as an individual?

Yes, individual entries are welcome. However, we highly recommend entering as part of a School Group managed by a teacher, as this prevents errors and streamlines award delivery.

How do we correct a spelling or grade error?

Please contact our support team immediately. Accurate spelling, grade levels, and school names are critical—they are directly used for judging, printing certificates, and shipping medals. Incorrect details may incur delays and replacement fees.

For Schools

Teacher & School Questions

Why is the Bulk School Registration preferred?

Teachers can manage all students in a simple dashboard, perform Bulk CSV Uploads, and secure a discounted rate. It ensures all spelling is verified by the school and awards arrive together in one synchronized shipment.

What if a student transfers to another school?

Because physical awards are mailed directly to the registered school, please notify us immediately if a student changes schools before the prize shipment dispatch date.

Submission

Project Submissions

Do we have to follow the yearly theme?

Yes. All projects MUST relate to the current year’s official challenge theme (e.g., Natural Disasters or Alien Attack). Your connection to the theme is a key judging criteria.

What do I need to submit?

Students will submit their project files/links (like Scratch .sb3 files, Python code, Arduino files, or Google Teachable Machine links), a short description, and a presentation video (max 3 minutes) demonstrating how it works.

Can we use AI, Scratch, or different robots?

Absolutely! Depending on your chosen pathway, you can use Scratch, Python, Google Teachable Machine, LEGO, Arduino, micro:bit, or open-source hardware. Check the official rules for specific track guidelines.

Awards

Prizes and Certificates

Does every participant get an award?

Yes! Every student who successfully submits a project receives a physical Medal, Trophy, and Certificate of Participation.

How are Winners decided?

Judges evaluate projects based on completeness, creativity, technical execution, and thematic relevance. Top performers receive advanced awards, and prizes are carefully curated to be age-appropriate and educational.

Where can I download my certificate?

Digital certificates can be accessed by logging into your Student/Teacher Dashboard after the challenge results have been finalized.

Shipping

Delivery of Physical Awards

Where are the medals and trophies sent?

School Delivery is the strict default. All medals, trophies, and certificates are bundled and shipped directly to the student’s registered school address to ensure safe delivery.

Can I request home delivery?

Home delivery is strictly an exception (e.g., for homeschooling students or invalid school boundaries) and must be requested during registration. It may incur additional postage fees.
